Reading all of the post about the I-130 is getting me worried, I have not even started the process yet,  my Husband and I just got married. All of the documents are in Arabic as we got married in Jordan.
I was hoping to find out if when i get the papers translated,  do I need them translated by notary also? I am really confused as I have a friend who can translate the documents just not sure if INS will take a simple translation with a document supporting that he translated them?
Also as a side note, my pictures that I took were lost with my bags.. sigh.. how picky is INS going to be about not having pictures of the wedding?

INS also told me as I was waiting for the approval of the I-130 I could file for a visiters visa and note the case number and would not have to pay extra for this visa.. anyone hear this or was the lady crazy who told me this?

I'm afraid that I've never heard of anyone ever getting a free visitor's visa because their I-130 was pending. The USCIS charges for literally everything so I suspect you will have to pay in the end.

A personal translation is all that you need as far as I am aware, but if you are unsure or are able to afford a professional translation it might reduce the risks of the translation being rejected.

Don't panic before you've even begun. If you are unsure, the USCIS can help answer questions, or else there are lots of immigration services like Immigration direct that will help you to wade through the muddle.

Hi PillowKat,

Definitely a must to have your papers, written in another language, to be officially translated by a notable or credible office. It doesn't need to be a notary. What is important is that the translated papers should have a proof, notarization or stamp that they are official.

Can you find friends or family that took photos of the wedding? Did you put any on Facebook or send them to friends via email? You can easily print digital photos again.

This is a very good point. So many people have camera phones now, that even if your official photos were lost, there are bound to be some kind of copy somewhere.

I believe, they told about spouse visa(K-3 Visa).

In order to qualify for either a K-3, the U.S. sponsor must have already filed a Form I-130, Immigrant Petition on behalf of his or her relative. The K-3 visa holders may enter the U.S. while the I-130 Immigrant Petition is pending and apply for a Green Card from inside the U.S. after the petition is approved
