You can confidently apply for renewal. You will have to pay the filing fee, but you can get your new card, and can now get a combined advanced parole and EAD card by filing forms I-131 and I-765 together.

Of course you have several months yet till your card expires, so you might find that you get your green card in time. However, you will need to make sure that you have applied in time so that you don't run out-which might mean simply applying in order to be safe.

How long is the wait, generally, for an EAD to be issued to an eligible person? I thought that they were relatively rapidly issued, so that the person can get back into work?
