It's the initial green card granted to someone who must prove something, that their marriage is genuine. To have the conditions removed and a full green card issued, you have further interviews or paperwork to file.

Thanks. I also found out that a conditional permanent resident green card is valid for only 2 years. In order to maintain one’s permanent residency, a conditional permanent resident must file a petition to remove the condition during the 90 days before the card expires, but NOT before or else the petition will be rejected. The conditional green card cannot be renewed.

Conditional green cards are in fact the type of green cards offered to applicants who marry a US citizen. Conditional green cards are designed to provide conditional permanent residency in order to help discourage sham or fake weddings undertaken only to get a green card the easy way.

Once your petition is approved, you will be sent a new Green Card valid for 10 years. At that point, the Green Card Renewal or Green Card Replacement process involves the use of Form I-90.

Removing Conditions
• If one’s conditional status was based on a marriage, such as a fiancé coming to the U.S. on a K-1 visa, then they must file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence.
• If one’s conditional status was based on being an investor, then they must file Form I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status.
