Do I still need to renew my Green Card before it expires eventhough I already applied for naturalization  or shall I wait for the result of naturalization process?

You must hold a valid green card during the naturalization process time. The below link of blog will give clear idea about your question in the second paragraph.

Thank you for the reference. However, I need a straight forward answer because someone told me that even if my green card was expired I can still complete my naturalization without any problem. Is this true of they are just getting me a run around?

You can apply for naturalization at anytime. The card may be expired or yet to expired, but you are still a permanent resident. You should file as quickly as possible especially if you intend to travel. I suggest that you do not travel without a valid green card or a passport. The naturalization process is very quick these days and will only take approximately six months.

samuel5028 - you cannot apply for naturalization anytime. You should have a valid green card when you apply and the green card should have a validity of 6 months or more. If your green card is expired or will expire within the next 6 months, then you will first have to apply for a renewal before you can apply for naturalization.

Since you have already filed for naturalization you need not get your green card renewed.

I don't need to renew it? Are you sure?
I was advised that I needed to renew the green card since I applied for naturalization less than 6 months prior to it's expiration.

If you applied for naturalization when there were less than 6 months left for your green card to expire then you need to apply to get the green card renewed.

Actually, if that was the case, you should not have filed for naturalization in the first place. You should have got the green card renewed and then filed for naturalization.

I don't want to misguide anyone so why don't you speak to an immigration official about your case? They will give you the necessary info.

Thank you Alina. The green card has already been renewed and only waiting for the citizenship oath. ;)
